Manual Wheelchairs are available in different sizes, prices and configurations. Considerations before purchasing needs to be determined. Listed below are some questions to help the user and carer to steamline their choice.

1. Does the user require independence with a self propelled chair ?

Self propelled Wheelchairs (SP)
(Large rear wheels)

Transit Wheelchairs are always pushed by an attendant.
(Small rear wheels)

2. Is the weight of the chair an issue?
Lifting Wheelchairs for transportation may determine whether an Aluminum or Steel chair is the most appropriate. Aluminum Wheelchairs are approximately 25% less weight of the same size steel model.

3. Does the user’s weight suit the wheelchairs safe working load?
